About me

Hi, I’m Lesslie!

I’m the wife of a wonderful, handsome man, and a Mom to the most beautiful, precious kiddos in the world! I’m a part-time Labor & Delivery nurse, a full-time grad student, a cook, a baker, a DIYer, a clean freak with OCD tendencies, a born and raised Texas girl, and a lover of (almost) all things outdoors. I am a lot of things, but I wouldn’t be much of anything without my savior, Jesus Christ! Life can get pretty hectic around here: busy busy busy all of the time, but I try to slow down, smell the bluebonnets, and enjoy life as much as possible!

So what are you going to read about on this blog?

Well, I write about my passions! Things that interest me, things that move me, things that I’m learning about….things I want to share.

The Cleaning & Organizing section will house some of my most tedious obsessions. As I mentioned above, I’m a tad OCD about some things. I LOVE a clean house, but even more than that, I love for my house to be tidy and de-clutttered. Or at least appear that way. I’ll show you some of my organizing projects and my favorite DIY cleaners!

DIY is about all the things I try to do myself, whether or not I succeed or not is for you to discover ? I’m a novice seamstress, woodworker, painter, and re-finisher, but I have fun doing it! I also love to make my own beauty products and such, which I’ll let you read all about under the DIY category.

Home & Family will talk about just that: My Home & Family! Here you’ll find a few tidbits of marriage advice and date ideas. I’ll show you some of my favorite creative meals and activities for toddlers, and maybe even have a few posts about my “Crunchy Momma” adventures in baby wearing and cloth diapers.

Hope in Christ expresses my husband and I’s love for Jesus Christ. He is the Lord and Savior of our lives, and we hope we are able to publicly display that love to all who want to see it! We believe that our faith is a lifestyle, not a front that goes up on Sundays, and while it isn’t all unicorns and rainbows around here all of the time, we choose to believe in a God who is more powerful than our struggles. We try to live our lives in such a way that honors Christ.

In the Kitchen will display some of my favorite recipes! I’m not an expert cook by any means, but I enjoy cooking healthy, easy meals for my family. While I’m a sucker for southern comfort food and convenience, I try to mix in some healthier versions of my favorites as well as experiment with new recipes.

On the Homestead is probably my favorite category. My husband and I started down this road in 2012 just before our son was born, and we are learning as fast as we can. After a few bumps in the road, we bought “Bluebonnet Acres” in January of 2016, and continue to learn about country life, self-sufficiency, and managing our homestead as we go. I’ll talk about my adventures in raising different types of livestock & small-scale farming, and bring you along in my quests to perfect gardening, canning, food storage, and the like!

I hope you enjoy Bluebonnet Acres! Please subscribe to my mailing list for occasional (think: no more than once weekly) updates. If you have any questions about content, or if you would like to connect with me, please use the contact form to Contact Me! Thank you!
