Protecting your Family from Ballistic & Knife Attacks at Home
Living in a big city can be a lot of fun. There is a lot of hustle and bustle going on at all times and many people find that there is always something fun to do. While living in the city can be fun, it is important to realize that it can be quite dangerous too. There are more crimes that take place in a city on a daily basis than in any rural area simply because there are so many people in the area. Cities are known for having thousands of people within just a few square miles. With so many people in such a small area, there are sure to be a lot of crime taking place each and every day.
If you and your family live in an apartment, home, or condo that is located in a big city, it is important to realize that there is always a chance that something bad could happen at any time. Many people assume that living in an apartment building makes them safer than living in a home. They think that their neighbors will watch out for them and call the police if they hear anything out of the ordinary. That is not the case though. Many times, people in large cities will keep to themselves and not worry about what is going on around them because they assume that it is none of their business. You need to take the time to make sure that you are able to protect your family and stay as safe as possible as the same time.
Body armor is the best way for you to be able to keep yourself safe, if someone were to break into your home. Body armor is lightweight so that you can easily move around as needed without being detected. It is does not crinkle or make noise when you are wearing it so that you can easily move around in the apartment without the criminals hearing where you are.
Body armor is available in many different sizes to ensure that you are able to get the right fit for you. It is small enough that you can store it just about anywhere with ease. It is important to keep the body armor close by your bed though. You want to be sure that if you need the body armor at night, you do not need to go into another room to get the body armor to protect yourself. If you have to leave the room to get the body armor, you will be putting yourself at risk. The criminals may be closer to your room than you think and when you go to get the body armor, they could harm you on the spot. Body armor can be stored under a bed, in a suitcase, or even in your nightstand. You simply need to be able to get to it quickly without alerting the criminals that you are awake. Knowing exactly where the body armor is located will ensure that you are able to get to it when you need it.
A Note From Busy B:
I want to mention that this article is not meant to scare you. First and foremost, prepping is about making you feel more secure. If purchasing and wearing body armor on a regular basis will help you feel more secure, then by all means, do so! But bulletproof vests are not for everyone. If wearing body armor bothers you or if worrying about not having any body armor is causing you to stress, then please disregard everything you’ve read. I lived in Fort Worth, Texas in an apartment for a few years, and I must say that what Anthony mentioned about not knowing your neighbors is very true! My husband and I only met two sets of neighbors the entire time we lived there (and one of those two happened to be friends that we knew beforehand.) Most likely you don’t know your neighbors and cannot count on them in an emergency; however, going around paranoid that someone is going to stab you every day is NOT quite the life I wish for you to have. There are many, many other ways to defend yourself, your family, and your home. Like body armor, other things such as concealed carry weapons, pepper spray, self-defense tactics, even everyday items like car keys can be used to protect oneself. Please find something that you feel comfortable with and use it to your advantage 🙂
